This rare terracotta model of a Trypillian house was discovered near the village of Shkarivka, Bila Tserkva Raion, Kyiv Oblast — on a forested rise between the Ros River and a chain of Neolithic mounds previously mapped by regional archaeologists. The object was uncovered during the clearing of a long-abandoned apiary plot, buried within a collapsed clay storage pit.

Miniature structures like this are believed to represent ritual models of real dwellings and were likely used in spiritual or seasonal ceremonies. The carefully shaped walls, stylized roofline, and geometric impressions reflect not only the architecture of the era, but also its sacred symbolism — possibly tied to ancestor worship, fertility, or household protection.

An extraordinary collector’s item that brings to life the domestic spirituality of prehistoric Ukraine.
