This rare stone idol was discovered near the village of Kryzhopil, Tulchyn Raion, Vinnytsia Oblast — along a wooded slope above the Kodyma River, not far from the historical boundary between early Cucuteni-Trypillia communities and steppe tribes. The piece was found during the clearing of a collapsed animal shelter on rural farmland, embedded in compacted soil among fire-cracked stones and charcoal remains.

Carved from local river stone and smoothed by hand, the idol exhibits an abstract humanoid shape with minimal yet intentional features. Unlike the more common ceramic figurines of the Trypillia culture, stone idols are extremely rare and believed to have held special ritual status — either as boundary markers, protective spirits, or objects of ancestral reverence.

A striking and primal artifact that captures the early spiritual worldview of Neolithic Ukraine, this piece is a unique highlight for any serious collection of prehistoric sacred art.
