This unique ceramic candlestick in the form of an idol was unearthed near the village of Myrivka, Haisyn Raion, Vinnytsia Oblast — a region in central Ukraine known for its dense concentration of Trypillia cultural layers. The artifact was found during the renovation of an old root cellar, located on the forested slope above the Sob River, approximately 8 kilometers from the historical Cucuteni-Trypillia trade path connecting the Southern Bug and Dniester basins.
Its anthropomorphic design, crafted from hand-molded clay, suggests a dual purpose — both symbolic and functional. Such objects are believed to have held ritual fire or candles in early Neolithic households, particularly during seasonal or fertility-related ceremonies. The surface bears traces of linear ornamentation typical for Trypillia ceremonial ware.
A remarkable fusion of art, function, and spiritual heritage — this item stands as a rare witness to the symbolic world of prehistoric Ukraine.
